Back40 is revitalizing the streetscape of Market Center along Market and 17th streets. The project was spurred by the renovation of this historic building which hosts a variety of retail and dining establishments.

The architectural restoration will return the building facade to the street edge. The site conditions have minimal sidewalk space available for outdoor dining. Adding to the challenge is a 30” grade change between the street and sidewalk reflecting the original historic development conditions.

The streetscape revitalization will enhance the public realm while respecting the historic site conditions. A key element of the design plan involves widening the sidewalk to allow outside dining by eliminating a lane of parking adjacent to Market Center.
