Glenwood Springs, Colorado
With the move of Glenwood’s Grand Avenue Bridge to the west, there is new opportunity to position 6th street as a pedestrian oriented destination. In addition, the landing area formerly occupied by the north end of the bridge frees up land which will be utilized for a park.
studioINSITE worked with a broad range of stakeholders to explore programmatic goals for the new park. A range of design alternatives were explored and narrowed to a preferred concept.
Park programmatic elements include a performance stage, promenade for pop up vendors, an art walk, a children’s play area, and a water feature. Adjacent buildings will re-orient towards the park on the west, and the park seamlessly connects to the Colorado River pedestrian bridge on the east.
